For the past ten years, Tarek Belgasam have been working in field of computational and experimental mechanics of materials. He is currently working at Honda R&D Americas Inc. as Materials Research Engineer, who is responsible for researching and developing new materials related to automotive components (body, interior, chassis, and/or powertrain). His primary research interest is in the area of computational mechanics of materials where design material microstructures with the desired properties and performance for intended applications through a microstructure optimization. Tarek has extensive experience with CAE software, LS-DYNA, Digimat, Abaqus and Coupling Digimat-CAE/LS-DYNA (Explicit and Implicit Simulation). His research is related to investigate the relationship between microstructure properties and mechanical properties of automotive materials using multiscale material modeling of heterogeneous materials used in automotive applications. Tarek earned his BSc and MSc in mechanical engineering from University of Benghazi (UOB) in 1997 and 2008 respectively. He worked as teaching assistant, assistant lecturer, and lecturer at mechanical engineering department, UOB from 1997 to 2010. He received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, from the Washington State University in 2017. After his PhD, Tarek have worked at Office of Commercialization at Washington State University as a Technology Licensing Assistant for more than 3 years. His responsibilities have covered all aspects of protecting, leveraging and transferring University intellectual property assets to commercialization partners. This role has led him to supervise the WSU Office of Commercialization Internship Program. He participated in several leadership roles on Washington State University’s campus and Pullman community in WA, including vice president and president of Arabic Language and Culture Organization, co-founder Arabic school program, and member of Police Advisory Committee. Tarek is married to Samia Fadil and has three children, Doaa, Mahmoud and Mohammed. He likes playing soccer and listening to music.
